About

John P. "Jake" Taylor received his undergraduate degree magna cum laude in Business Administration in 2018 from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. During his undergraduate studies, he played mellophone for the Pride of the Southland Marching Band and French horn for the university’s concert ensembles. Jake obtained his law degree cum laude with a Health Law Honors Certificate from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2021. While at Memphis, he worked as a student attorney in the Medical-Legal Partnership Clinic and served as a research assistant for two years. Jake also served as a staff member for Volume 50 and as a member of the Senior Editorial Board and Symposium Editor for Volume 51 of The University of Memphis Law Review.

After completing his legal studies, Jake returned to East Tennessee and served a one-year appointment with the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee as a Law Clerk to the Honorable United States Magistrate Judges Debra C. Poplin, H. Bruce Guyton, and Jill E. McCook. Following his clerkship, Jake joined Hodges, Doughty & Carson as an associate attorney.

Jake and his wife, Mia, are both lifelong Vol fans and are active members of the Pride of the Southland Alumni Marching Band. When not cheering on the Vols, Jake and Mia enjoy spending time with their cat Obi and dog Poplar and exploring the Great Smoky Mountains.
